CIO Insight article revisits Nicholas Carr controversial 2003 HBR article “ كبير موظفي المعلومات بصيره المادة revisits نيكولاس كار 2003 hbr مادة للجدل " IT Doesn’t Matter لا يهم “. Well, the gist of the article is: Nicholas Carr sees no strategic value of IT for the business. He compares IT to Electricity. ". جيدا ، وجوهر هذه المادة هو : نيكولاس كار لا ترى اي قيمة استراتيجية لانها من الاعمال التجارية. وهو يقارن الى الكهرباء. When electricity was discovered, some organizations that were able to understand the business value of electricity used it to create a sustainable competitive advantage. وعندما تم اكتشاف الكهرباء ، وبعض المنظمات التي كانت قادرة على فهم القيمه التجارية للكهرباء انها تستخدم لخلق ميزة تنافسية مستدامه. But soon all the competitors started using electricity and electricity was no longer an enabler of competitive advantage. ولكن سرعان ما بدأت جميع المنافسين باستخدام الكهرباء والكهرباء لم تعد تساعد في تعزيز القدرة التنافسيه. Since his initial article he has written the book ‘IT Doesn’t Matter’ and continues to write about irrelevance of IT in business strategy. No doubt his analysis is half baked and several reputable people have rebuked his take. What’s surprising is that he still finds an audience that listens to his views. Nicholas Carr’s view on IT is as poignant as US Commissioner of Patents Charles H. Duell’s view in 1899 declaring everything that could be invented has been invented and recommended that the Patent Office be closed down permanently (this is only a urban myth but this story comes closest to Carr’s perspective). المادة الاولى منذ توليه وقد كتب الكتاب 'لا يهم' ولا تزال الكتابة عن عدم جواز الاحتجاج في استراتيجية الاعمال التجارية. ولا شك ان تحليله هو نصف خبز وعده السمعه الشعب rebuked اتخاذ بلده. ما يثير الدهشه هو ان ويرى انه لا يزال من جمهور يستمع الى آرائه. نيكولاس كار وجهة نظر لأنه كما مؤثرة من دولارات الولايات المتحدة مفوض براءات الاختراع وتشارلز حاء مبارزه بالمجلس ، في عام 1899 نظرا ليعلن ان كل شيء يمكن ان يكون قد اخترع اخترعت وأوصت بأن مكتب براءات الاختراع اغلاق دائمة (هذه ليست سوى اسطوره ولكن في المناطق الحضريه وتأتي هذه القصة الاقرب الى وجهة نظر كار).

Granted, there is some truth to what Carr says though. منح ، وهناك قدر من الحقيقة في ما يقول على الرغم من كار. Granted there are some aspects of IT that behaves like a commodity. منح وهناك بعض الجوانب من ان تتصرف وكأنها سلعة. IT infrastructure like storage, network etc are clearly commodity. البنية الأساسية لتكنولوجيا المعلومات مثل التخزين ، وما الى الشبكه بشكل واضح للسلع الاساسية. Other infrastructure/support applications like email, excel etc act as commodity and we could see more organizations using SaaS (software as a service) model. البنى التحتية الاخرى / دعم التطبيقات مثل البريد الالكتروني ، الخ اكسل بمثابة السلع ويمكننا أن نرى مزيدا من المنظمات التي تستخدم saas) البرامج ويهدف الى خدمة (النموذج. Even some of the IT enabled applications in a supporting department, in organizations like HR etc can use ‘canned’ applications like SAP. حتى ان بعض من التطبيقات في دعم ادارة الموارد البشريه في منظمات مثل الخ يمكن استخدام 'المعلبه' التطبيقات مثل برامج التكيف الهيكلي.

But, h ave you ever wondered why implementation of ERP applications fails most of the time? ولكن ، ح مرحبا يتساءل لماذا انت في اي وقت تنفيذ تطبيقات نظام تخطيط موارد المؤسسات فشل معظم الوقت؟ It’s because organization try to apply ERP to every value chain in the organization. لأن المنظمه انها محاولة لتطبيق نظام تخطيط موارد المؤسسات الى كل سلسلة القيمه في المنظمه. There are some business processes that create a differentiation competitive advantage for the organization. وهناك بعض العمليات التجارية التي تخلق تمايز ميزة تنافسية للمنظمة. These business processes create ‘Economic Moat’ that competitors cannot replicate. هذه العمليات التجارية خلق الاقتصادية خندق 'ان المنافسين لا يمكن محاكاته. This is where IT cannot be used as a commodity. وهذا حيث لا يمكن ان تستخدم كسلعه. For these business processes, IT can be used to ‘widen’ the ‘economic moat’ and extend the competitive advantage vis-à-vis the competition. لهذه العمليات التجارية ، وانها يمكن ان تستخدم ل'توسيع' 'خندق الاقتصادي' وتمديد ميزة تنافسية في مواجهة المنافسة.

My belief is that it’s the job of IT department to understand the business strategy, organizational behavior and competitive strategy for their company. واعتقد انها مهمة وهي ادارة لفهم استراتيجية الاعمال ، والسلوك التنظيمي والاستراتيجيه التنافسيه للشركة. One of the job functions of an IT executive must be to identify the ‘core competency’ of their organization. واحدة من وظيفة من وظائف تكنولوجيا المعلومات التنفيذية يجب ان تكون لتحديد 'الكفاءات الاساسية' للمنظمة. Customized IT solution must be applied to those business processes and hence build a ‘sustainable’ competitive advantage. وهو مخصص حل يجب ان تطبق على هذه العمليات التجارية ، وبالتالي بناء المستدامة 'ميزة تنافسية. For business processes that are not part of company’s core competency, automation can either be outsourced or SaaS can be enabled or ERP applications can be used. من أجل العمليات التجارية التي لا تشكل جزءا من الشركة من الكفاءات الأساسية ، اما التشغيل الالي يمكن أن يستعان بها من الخارج او يمكن ان تكون saas مكن تطبيقات نظام تخطيط موارد المؤسسات أو يمكن استخدامها.
